The Birth of Curation.

11.20.20

I was wrapping up my senior year of college in San Diego when I first came up with the idea for Curation. It was 2019, and at the time, the page I’d set up for it was merely a space for me to post pictures of things I found visually appealing in the music, clothing and art worlds. There was nothing for sale, no specific direction I was looking to take the page, nor was there a pre-existing thought to turn it into an actual clothing/lifestyle brand. Just a place for me to express my interests without clogging up other people’s feeds who followed my own personal account.

Before Curation, I had helped to co-found and run Physis Apparel, a Chicago based premium streetwear brand with one of my best friends from high school. I think it was during that time that I truly discovered my passion for the clothing world. I loved the idea of shaping a brand’s identity, developing their online presence, and above all else, I loved helping to create the branded pieces. So when the original idea for Curation. came along, it was only a matter of time before I was pulled back into that world to do what I loved most.

Fast forward a little over a year and a half and there’s been quite a few changes in my life including my graduation and a cross country move to NYC. Despite these changes, I’ve made sure Curation’s identity as a brand remained constant. I’ve always attempted to keep it true to my own interests, promoting what I liked from other artists, athletes and designers. With the small to mid-sized clothing brand market being as oversaturated as it is, my one hope is that what I’m putting out there looks and feels authentic to me.

Thanks so much for reading our first official editorial entry. Improvements on the writing front hopefully to come with time.
